When I first saw this photo, by Stefan Schäfer, it stopped me in my tracks. I had never before seen such a graphic visual of what is going on beneath the surface as adult teeth await their chance to replace the baby ones! No wonder teething (and the loss of baby teeth as the big ones push through) is so intense. Read more here.
Meanwhile, I've been looking for a teething necklace for Hazel. Did you know that both Amber and Hazelwood have therapeutic properties that help to alleviate the pain associated with teething? I love the design of these baby Hazelwood and gemstone necklaces from
Kael & Kaed:
I also think these amber necklaces from
Amber Artisans are nice, although I'm partial to getting a Hazelwood one for Hazel, for obvious reasons ;)

Have you ever used a necklace to naturally aid the pain of teething?
What are your thoughts/observations?
i have an amber one for ruby and i think it totally works! and now she asks to wear it every day. i think it turned out to be comfort for more than her teething. :)
ReplyDeleteMy baby is 5 months old (teething early, first one is poking through already.) I bought an amber teething necklace for her and it really seems to work. She's more calm on the days that I remember to put it on.
ReplyDeleteIn Germany many babies wear amber necklaces for teething or general anxiety. It has very calming effects.
ReplyDeletei used amber and hazelwood necklaces on my twin boys for teething and also eczema. seemed to work however they did not really like having them on for very long.
ReplyDeletei got one for parker but i am not convinced that it's helping. i keep it on him anyway though, in case it is and could be much worse!
ReplyDeletegood luck. teething is such a rough process for these babes.
Gwen has worn one since she was a few months old (she's 2.5 now). I'm sure it helped us.
ReplyDeleteI've been getting mixed "reviews" about amber necklaces. With that said, I will probably try it when the time comes: anything is worth trying to help relieve those poor, teething babes!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like a total hoax, but my 2.5 yo has worn a dark amber one since around 6 months. She gets upset if we try to take it off now, so it's stayed on. I got one for my 8mo at 4 months, I got her the honey colored amber. Looks cute, and at any rate, it isn't hurting anything. I got good quality ones that are double-knotted after each bead and well-made authentic Baltic amber. Anything worth doing is worth doing right!
ReplyDeleteThey say that not all amber teething necklaces are the same. First it must be unpolished to work, second you must choose lighter colors - something to do with healing acid concentration. We end up buying lemon unpolished necklace from Amber For Babies and it works, not magical cure but works!
ReplyDeleteThese are really pretty and helpful . They look trendy and provide nutritional therapy . plush dolls and amber necklaces can be really helpful for babies .
ReplyDeleteAll of my research on amber necklace for teething has shown positive results. My LO is starting to teeth at 5 months. I am willing to try it if it helps his pain!
