Happy International Babywearing Week! To celebrate, I am happy to announce the beginning of the next installment of The Sling Diaries, woohoo!
First of all, I have to thank everyone for the amazing outpouring of interest in participating in The Sling Diaries, Volume II. I loved hearing from so many people who are enthusiastic about babywearing and interested in sharing a glimpse into their family lives. Whittling our favorites down to a relative few was a huge challenge. That being said, I have had an enormous amount of fun putting together this group of diarists, and I can't wait to introduce you to 14 of the 15 seriously fabulous, creative, and exciting bloggers with whom we will be spending the next six months.
The participants hail from all over the world -- from New Zealand to New York, Boston to Bali, Virginia to Australia, Iowa to Hawaii to name a few places. One just gave birth days ago to her first baby, one is the mother of nine, one has both a baby and a teenager. There are already so many amazing stories in this group, I'm practically giddy to see how they each interpret our six new themes over the coming months. Each one of these blogs is a gem, so hop over and explore them all -- you'll fall in love with them, I know it. Here they are:

AND NOW FOR SOME FAQ's:
A photo-documentary chronicling the art of babywearing in the lives of fifteen families. Over the course of six months, contestants will compete by creating their own Sling Diary with a series of entries interpreting a unique theme given to them each month.
WHO ARE THE SLING DIARISTS?
They are 15 women with creative, unique voices, great style sense, and a passion for babywearing (plus 16 of the cutest babies in blogdom...that's right -- there's a set of twins!).
HOW, EXACTLY, DO THE DIARIES WORK?
The Sling Diaries will come to life with an emphasis on beautiful photography and creative interpretation of six different assigned themes. Contestants will create one blog post (diary entry) per month featuring photos of themselves wearing their Sakura Bloom sling. Each month, the curatorial team will select photos from each diary entry and these images will come together on The Sling Diaries Pinterest page. When all entries are complete, our panel of judges will select their favorite Sling Diary from the project and the winner will receive their choice of sling from the Sakura Bloom Luxe collection.
WHERE CAN I KEEP UP WITH ALL THIS BABYWEARING AWESOMENESS?
The event will be hosted on the official Sling Diaries Pinterest page, with updates and giveaways happening right here on Marvelous Kiddo as well as the official Sling Diaries Facebook page. You can also follow along by reading the blogs of our contestants and keeping an eye on Sakura Bloom's new Tumblr.
A giant hug and thank you to everyone who left such lovely comments to enter the giveaway! We welcome you to the Sling Diary community, and look forward to getting to know you all better over the next six months, as we watch the diaries unfold. --XOXO, Leigh.

I would love to be selected! My son Hatch is four months old and we do a lot of babywearing, since it's one of the few ways he'll nap and I'm also a full-time midwifery student who needs to get things done hands-free! My blog is inoakpark.wordpress.com.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be part of the Sling Diaries. I've wanted a Sakura sling for a LONG time!
ReplyDeleteI babywear my 1 yr old son all the time- he was a colicky baby and I love sharing how babywearing helped me calm him and created a bond between us.
Love this! We are expecting baby #3 to arrive sometime this week and I am already excited about all the babywearing we will enjoy together. I've been following the Sling Diaries on FB and Pinterest and just love this beautiful way of documenting memories. I would love this opportunity to capture our littlest one's first year. I blog over at Girl of Grace (www.tjsmhanesfamily.blogspot.com).
ReplyDeleteI what a wonderful idea! I read the Sling Diaries on Che and Fidel and thought it was gorgeous. I'd love to be a part! I blog at theveggiemama.com and I have a two-week-old little girl and an 18-month-old. I love the slings as they're not as bulky as other carriers - I wear my little girl a lot and its hard to sit with a huge pack on my chest! Slings are so pretty. I can't wait to read more diaries this time around :-)
ReplyDeleteI would love to be selected. My daughter is now 6months who loves to look at everything around her, we do a lot of baby wearing as it helps me do most of the things I need to do during the day & makes crossing the road with my pre-schooler much easier.
ReplyDeleteMy blog is called Victoria Shhh, www.victoriashhh.blogspot.com.

I have really enjoyed following the Sing Diaries. I would love to be a participant! I am a blogger from California. Our son Owen is 15 months old and we hope to have another baby soon! My husband and I both love wearing our son. You can find my blog at www.alwaysmewithyou.blogspot.com.
ReplyDeleteOh yes please. Have a two year old who has been worn since birth and a second on the way. Would love to join in on the fun! X ashley
ReplyDeleteI also love to record our history in photos and words. No better excuse than being a part of something this magical. X
DeleteI so enjoyed the last Sling Diaries and I would love to take part! I'm a young mama to a 8-mth old little boy - we're currently living in Paris, France - but I'm originally from Australia - we love our everyday baby-wearing for both the closeness and logistical reasons (Paris metros & trains are not built for prams!). What appeals to me most about taking part in the diaries is experimenting with different styles and carrying positions as we go about life here.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be apart of sling diaries. I followed the sling diaries through Che and Fidel. I had to have one. I purchased a Sakura Bloom Sling when I was pregnant and put our five week old baby in it on the weekend. To have him do close was amazing. Bonding while doing errands. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteI blog over at www.billyandaugust.com
Oh, i would love to. A shame I don't run a blog. But: I ordered my own and very first Sakura Sling a week ago and hope to have it in the mail soon. Can't wait to put my daughter in it and show her the world.
ReplyDeleteOh I would so love to be part of this. I have followed the sling diaries for a while and loved the inventive and creativeness of some of the posts. I have a nine month old called Wilf that I first carried in a moby type wrap and now an ergo but I would to try a ring sling! I blog over at tigerlillyquinn.blogspot.co.uk
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity! X
I was so excited to see that Nirrimi and Georgia from here in australia are joining you this time! I absolutley love to read their blogs and think they are such a beautiful choice!
ReplyDeleteI would love to join them in this Sling diaries. The more I blog, the more I photograph my babies (Cooper is two and a half, and Little Indiana is 11 weeks), and this would be a lovely excuse to hold them close and snap away. Fingers crossed, thanks so much for such a wonderful opportunity. I can't wait to see the new posts to come!

I was naive to the benefits of baby wearing the first time around with my son. Older and wiser,I have enjoyed wearing my daughter in a sling since she was a new born. Now seven months of age I must say, it just gets better. :)
ReplyDeleteahhhh this is such an amazing twist! i love it. i didn't enter this round because i saw how fabulous and amazing the previous women were and didn't think i'd in any way add up to them. but! leigh, i would love love love a chance to be part of this breathtaking round of beautiful women wearing their babies in style. i could give you a whole list of reasons why, share with you my intimate attachment to babywearing, but mostly it would all come down to my love for women sharing their wisdom and experience with other women. i would love to be part of this gathering.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful concept I would be so delighted to be a part of!I drunk in every beautiful image of the last sling diaries and was not only converted to Sakura Bloom Slings but also so very inspired by all the wonderful posts. My new sling is brilliant and my little man Remy adores being close but also able to see his world. I would so love to be a part of this to really capture the day to day that is being a Mumma. The beautiful images and words by each blogger describing their daily goings on with their bubbas was enlightening, inspiring and so very heartwarming. I loved it! And would equally love to be part of it all :)
ReplyDeleteI found you through Jodi (Che and fidel) and I loved following your series. I am now also the proud owner of a linen sling that I LOVE for my son Baylin. It would be beyond words if I to could be apart of your upcoming series!!
ReplyDeleteCheers Sam x
I have been waiting for this to happen for so long now! I absolutely would LOVE to be apart of the second chapter of The Sling Diaries, for so many reasons. I have a 6 week old son, Mason, who literally LOVES being in my sakura sling. I have been wearing him since he was about a week old, and I truly believe it has helped his development. Having Mason see through my perspective has helped him become so alert and there is this calmness that surpasses him every time I bundle the little guy in there. I am such a firm believer in baby wearing and think it is essential for a mama! Not only does it help baby develop, but it promotes bonding; and who doesn't want to bond with their precious bundle?! I kept up with the first chapter of The Sling Diaries and was so inspired through each girl and their experiences (and was definitely jealous that they were apart of such an amazing project). I would be honored to be apart of the second chapter of this wonderful journey. I am absolutely in love with my Sakura Bloom sling and every time I step out of the house with it, I get stopped at least a couple times to get complimented on how comfortable it looks for baby Mason. And it definitely is the most comfortable place for him. The moment I stick him in there, he is ready for a nap which is fabulous! I would be absolutely honored to be chosen for this next chapter. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I'd really love to participate in the sling diaries. Our littlest is 15 months and loves being worn, by me her daddy and her older siblings (17 and 13 year olds). I'm also hoping to start trying for another baby soon and it would be a lot easier to carry Eve and a bump using a Sakura Bloom sling.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited about this volume of the diaries- the photos are like works of art, genius really! Love it!
ReplyDelete(I'm not entering, but will pass it along!)
Steph
How wonderful would participating in this be! I used a sling & then a Moby wrap when my son was first born. I've let it fall to the back burner lately, but have been seriously wanting to start back up now that I'm going back to school online & need free hand time. This week especially has had me missing our old habits since my poor little man has been sick and needing lots a time just being held and walked. And I'm five months pregnant so carrying around an almost ten month old gets pretty tiring on the arms.
ReplyDeleteMy blog is nothing much, but I'd love a try. :)

I would love to be part of the Sling Diaries, having worn my daughter Josephine since the day she way born. Initially in a Baba Sling and now in the Ergo, but I'd love to try a sling that allows a more interactive way of carrying. My husband has also carried her and would love to try the sling.
ReplyDeleteHaving just officially given up my job as a writer to be at home with Josephine (who's nearly 9 months old) I'm developing my knitting and vintage children's clothes business, and a sling like this would allow Phiney to see more of what I'm doing when we're hunting for vintage too.
We live in Bath in the UK, and my blog is onthefirstdayofmarriage.blogspot.com
Fingers crossed, we'd love to have a Sakura Bloom adventure :) x
My daughter and I would love to spread the baby wearing love with you guys!
ReplyDeleteI would absolutely love this opportunity!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter just turned one so I'd love to share the story of babywearing beyond the first year.
My 20 month old daughter adores ring slings and she always chooses our Sakura. I'd love the chance to participate (and she'd love the excuse to be in the sling even more)!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited about MORE Sling Diaries! I love the gorgeous photography that really shows the beauty of babywearing. <3 I love that it gets babywearing into the public eye in such a polished, fun, lasting way. I love seeing the amazing photos wash over my Pinterest feed & be repinned and reach new people. :)
ReplyDeleteMy current backpack baby is 16 months, & loves being snug in a carrier! I am pregnant, and wore his big siblings through my 2nd & 3rd pregnancies. I love how versatile ring slings are for wearing around a big belly! :)
I tried to leave a comment a minute ago. Not sure what happened. If I am commenting twice... sorry. =) I would love to be part of the Sling Diaries. I work as a photographer and I often forget to document our own lives. We are expecting our second and I would love to be involved in this. We still baby wear with our first and we plan to babywear with our second.
ReplyDeleteWe live in the beautiful Florida Keys.
I would love to be apart of the Sling Diaries. I am a mama to four children, my youngest is 6m old today and I have been wearing her every day. I would love to focus one blog post per month on wearing my baby and sharing it with the world. I live in central WI and get many comments about "how neat it is" that I wear my baby.
ReplyDeleteI love wearing my 15 mo. old in my Sakura Bloom essential silk ring sling! I would absolutely love a chance to fill the remaining lucky spot for the Sling Diaries. I follow the Sling Diaries project on FB and love the concept of showing baby wearing as part of everyday life through the lens of different families around the world. We live 30 miles off the coast of MA on the beautiful faraway island of Nantucket. My blog is fareisle.blogspot.com, originally started as a vegan recipe blog but now moving into the direction of documenting life on this unique and beautiful island. I think we would be a perfect fit to round out Part II of the Sling Diaries. Fingers crossed!!
ReplyDeleteI have used a Sakura Bloom sling since my son was born. It has given me some of my most cherished moments. Wearing him in it symbolizes, to me, the closeness and bond that a mother and child has. The safety in wearing a child so close, for both parties. I would love to participate, as I am a firm believer in the power of baby wearing and would love to help introduce other mothers or moms-to-be to it. The sling diaries is such an amazing and inspiring project and it would be such an honor to be a part of it. We live a little south of San Francisco and have been exploring the city more and more and think that the city with the sling would be pure photographic genius :) - Chelsey. Blog: Gray Area :www.misschelseymeyer.blogspot.com xx
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I'm so excited about volume 2! I am a mama to four, and west my youngest, who is 20 months, everyday. I would love, love, love to be a part of the Sling Diaries this time around! If I'm not, though, I can't wait to read all about these lovely ladies in the months to come!
ReplyDeleteBabywearing is an ancient tradition that communicate love, acceptance, and unconditional motherhood in its finest form. It is also an art, these women participating in the Sling Diaries do portray this and make it stylish and beautiful. I am a daily babywearing mom of two who believes wearing my baby is a lifestyle. We homeschool, cook together, make art and explore Brooklyn (and beyond) everyday. Our latest project is to find our dream home in Brooklyn, NY. I blog in Spanish about our family life at MamaBoricuaEnBrooklyn.com
ReplyDeleteI fully expected to be a stroller family until my child came 6 weeks early and needed to be held all the time. Since her birth I was thrown into babywearing and love it! She is so alert and I can see her learning new things every day. I followed the last sling diaries and the pictures were incredible. I loved all the themes that were chosen and it was interesting to see how each blogger interpreted them.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be selected! I first found the Sling Diaries via Pinterest, and I love following along. My little man Lionel is four months old and loves experiencing the world perched in a sling. Thank you for your consideration!

I would love to be chosen, baby wearing is one of my favorite ways to get close to my little man. It's a way to boost your love on daily basis. He has just self weaned (at 16 months) and now I need any excuse I can to get more physical contact and cuddling in! Plus he loves everything about it!

I adore wearing and carrying my baby everywhere I go. She is stronger for it, I am stronger for it and I know our relationship is deeper than it would have been had I decided to plop her in a stroller from day one (although she does enjoy a little stroller jog from time to time). I wear her to work 3-4 days a week and the kiddos around me (I work in a preschool office) have even started "wearing" their own dolls! (usually tucked into their shirts ha!). It's wonderful to know I'm not only helping my child, but also influence the parenting methods of our future generation. Love baby wearing!

I would love to be a contender. My baby Axel and I live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and I love that it's such a walkable neighborhood. Although it's sort of considered to be the ultimate hipster habitat, in recent years there's been a huge baby boom and I love seeing how accesible it is for kids. We love our Sakura sling, which we picked up at Caribou Baby, and for Axel it's practically a mute button.

I'm an American blogger living in Zurich, Switzerland. I'd love to be part of the Sling Diaries. We are a babywearing family and I've been drooling over the emerald green sling for some time. :) I blog at www.foliorose.com. Thanks, Leigh! xo
ReplyDeleteMy sweet Willow (7weeks) and I would love being a part of the Sling Diaries. We are a baby wearing family, especially since we found out Willow has reflux. She wants to be held all of the time, and being in a sling keeps her in a position that is good for her tummy. I've loved the past few installments of the Sling Diaries, I've found so many new blogs and mommy friends through it! :)

Oh my sweet little ladies and I would love to be a part of this project. I have a nearly 3 year old who is weathering the transition to big sister very well but is. . . a little extra needy. We have been wearing her while cooking, cleaning and during the time that is formerly known as "nap". My littlest is 5mo old and is only happy on my body- she naps on me, plays with my long hairs while she rides on my back (wrapped up tight) and sleeps cuddled up boob in mouth. We would love to try using a sling and combine our family love of all things cozy with some beautiful babywearing (and, who am I kidding, toddler wearing too). Gorgeous project!
ReplyDeleteHello! My name is Elena, I´m a mama of two, Lucas and Marcos, and we are a babywearing family. I would love to participate in the Sling Diaries because this is a lovely idea to spread the babywearing, which is what I do, my job and my love. Also, I think there is too little participation from Spain ;) (I promise to improve my english)

I love babywearing! I think the project is an awesome way to look into what babywearing means to different families. I'd love to be included to have the opportunity to spread my love of babywearing! So good for mamas and babies! My blog is http://naturallifemom.com
ReplyDeleteI love how Sling Diaries promotes and hopefully inspires parents to be babywearers! It would be an amazing opportunity to be a part of Sling Diaries and meet other great moms in the blogosphere.

I always thought slings we're hard to use. I was gifted one with my last baby and I love it! I still use it with her at almost two. What I have loved about the sling diaries is showing how so many different people use slings in both different and the same ways. I love the peeks into daily life while wearing a baby.
ReplyDeleteI'm due with my fourth (and last) baby in March. I have learned from experience that babywearing not only helps with my PPD, but makes life in a large family much more manageable and fun! I would love to be included in this round!

Hey sweet Lynne... Guess what.. we just brought home babies 5&6- yup- twins! My ex 29 weekers were born in May and are now snuggling in at home. I saw this post and though- 'why no'! So I'm throwing my name in the hat!!!

I've been waiting to see if there would be a second run of this! I wasn't ready before but I am now. My son is 5 months old and is very needy and loves to be around me all the time so I would love to have a better option to wear him while I walk or work around the house. I so love the connect and beauty of baby wearing and look forward to seeing the lovely new photos!
ReplyDeleteAvid babywearer here! We need more urban babywearing stories IMO!
ReplyDeleteChristina, http://robertandchristina.com
Four boys in 5 years...and two weeks ago, we had our first girl! I just received a Sakura Bloom sling from my best friend at my frilly pink baby shower -- even though Olivia is number 5, my girlfriends insisted I get LOTS of pink, sparkles and tutus. While I love my boys more than anything, I am so excited and blessed to finally have a daughter to share our lives with, and what better way to keep up with the boys in this house than to sling??
ReplyDeleteKeep up with our adventures at: www.wakeupjacob1.blogspot.com
Thanks!

I love being a mama to two under two, but some days ... most days ... I need an extra set of hands. Babywearing is often the perfect solution! Plus, who doesn't love wearing their little ones close to their heart? The Sling Diaries are so unique in that they give such a beautiful glimpse into the tiny bits of families all over the world. I'd love to share a peek into our family's life in the Pacific Northwest!

I want to be a part of this in six months when we step onto our sailboat and circumnavigate the globe with our baby boy Jackson. Baby wearing is a part of life with us and is essential on a sailboat. I feel confident hopping on and off knowing my boy is safely attached to me. We breast feed in it and nap in it while I hoist sails, set up the Bimini. I love how he gets a great view of our world from there. I love accessorizing my sling with my clothing. I've had it called the Greek look! My fave is calling it my 'mother of the year' sash lol. Think of us when you do the next one!
ReplyDeleteBabywearing is beautiful, and the Sling Diaries shows that beauty in all different ways. It also opens up a whole new world of people that I can relate to that encourage me with babywearing, breastfeeding, parenting, etc. Pick me! Pick me!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome project! I would love to be selected! I am the mom of four, soon to be five, kids. When baby arrives (due any day!) we'll have an 11 year old, 4 year old, 3 year old, 2 year old and a newborn. I am definitely going to be babywearing the new little one since I have my hands full (literally and figuratively) most of the day! My blog can be found here: http://www.thekitchenisnotmyoffice.com/
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the amazing photos!
I've been baby wearing my little one since days after birth. As a single mama, baby wearing was especially appealing to me because I knew that if I wasn't holding my little one, I'd be forced to leave my little one lying in a crib, on the floor, or otherwise somewhat alone... considering we had just spent nine months attached completely.... I wanted my little to join me while I did tasks that required me to be hands-free. I also wanted my little one heart to heart as often as possible. :) After birth, my little one struggled to latch for nearly six weeks, and I believe baby wearing deeply contributed to our success and on-going nursing relationship. We use our sling each time we leave the house and now that B is a little older, I receive requests to get in the "sing" while we are at home, too. :) I love that we both share such a joy of the art. Being part of a documentation of our baby wearing is something I'd love because most of the time, our photos are taken by me, so it would be nice to participate in something that encourages me to give someone else the camera. :)

ReplyDeleteMy little Elsie Love and I would love to win! I love baby wearing because I get to watch as my daughter discovers the world. I love being at eye level (and kissable level) with her as she explores. It's how the whole world has held their babies for thousands of years and it just feels like how it's meant to be. And I love that my husband loves wearing her! One of the hottest things ever. :)

as a recent 1st time mom, baby wearing in anything other than a bjorn was new to me. I love the sling diaries. Love the fabrics. Love the colors. Love seeing different aged children, toted by both moms and dads in gorgeous fabric/colors. Love that it looks so much more cozy than the old bjorn. My little Em hopes to be the envy of the other babes in the hood while being carried in a Sakura Bloom!
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to be part of the next installment of the sling diaries! I have an adorable 5 month old and crazy 3 year old. My sling (and other carriers) have been a lifesaver while chasing my toddler. I can always get Violet to take a nap if I wrap her up right next to me. How exciting it would be to win!!
ReplyDeleteBeing a part of this project would be amazing! Not only would I get to keep my sweet lil' lady bean nice and close, but it would be amazing to chronicle our adventures together!
ReplyDeleteWhat an opportunity! As a slightly larger mama (to one adorable 3 month old!), I think it would be great to highlight someone who doesn't look model perfect in their sling, but still oh so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHooray!!! More Sling Diaires!!
ReplyDeleteWe are now expecting #3 and I'm adjusting babywearing my 18m old and 3 yr old. I can't imagine who else could round off this uhmazing list, but would be thrilled if it were me!
I have a 10 month old son and have become (a little unexpectedly) a massive fan of babywearing - we live in central London and it really is by far the most practical way of navigating the city together; the tube with a pushchair is awful, and when we go to galleries and museums when I'm wearing him, he can be a part of things. I love the closeness of babywearing - sweetness and strength combined.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be a part of the sling diaries - I currently love my stripy didymos but would love to try a Sakura bloom sling.
More UK babywearing love!
-Patricia
not to focus too much on the practical aspect - there are many intangible benefits too (the sweet smell of his head, the chats we have, the expressions as he sees the world. my heart my heart) - but I feel maybe some people don't try babywearing because they think it is somehow harder when the reality is quite the opposite
DeleteI am a first time Momma to a beautiful 13 month old little girl, and we are still using our Sakura Bloom sling all the time! My girl had some extremely challenging colic when she was smaller and I can say without a doubt that slings were a life saver for us. They were my key to survival for the first several months & have now become a staple in our lives, even though that colicky infant is now a very busy toddler. Can't wait to read along with the sling diaries again!
ReplyDeleteI would love to do this! My fourth son, Sawyer, is 7 weeks. As a busy mom to three active boys our newest blessing was a huge surprise that has truly completed our family! I have been baby wearing all of the time because he wants to be held and close to me but with big brothers that's not always easy! He loves being in a sling or wrap and my hands are free to do homework, practices, get dinner ready and do laundry! It's keeping us happy and sane:).
ReplyDeleteOh, how I'd love to participate!
ReplyDeleteBecause I love:
slings (esp. sakura bloom)
babies (expecting #2 in December)
writing
(not in that order)
Gosh, it'd just be a joy to tell our story of our growing family with so many.

I've never heard of Sling Diaries until Love blogged about it, but it sounds wonderful! I'm a military spouse living in Hawaii, and mama to a silly two-and-a-half year old boy; we'll be meeting baby #2 sometime next month! We LOVE baby wearing, but have only used our Ergo and two different woven wraps, never a ring sling (yet!). I can only imagine how much more essential baby wearing will be with #2! I'd love to be a part of the Sling Diaries!
ReplyDeleteI would love to be able to take part in The Sling Diaries. Babywearing is a new mama's best friend and over the last nine months I've been able to experience and explore the world with my sweet Miles in a completely different way than I otherwise would've. Even my husband has taken to babywearing so much more than I could have even imagined! We live on the beautiful Central Coast of California and I'd love to share bits and pieces of our life on the Sling Diaries!

My husband and I live in the gorgeous, rugged bluff country of southern Minnesota (no, Minnrsota is not all flat!), and I hiked throughout the entirety of my pregnancy. I now have a three-month-old who wants to constantly move. Babywearing gives him the motion and closeness he needs, allows me to get things done, and makes me feel connected to generations of women who have worn their babies throughout the ages.
ReplyDeleteMy babywearing habits have earned me some "careful about carrying him so much or you'll spoil him" comments, so I'm very grateful for sites like this one that educate the masses on how healthy and beneficial babywearing is.

I would love to be the 15th! I started a babywearing group in NYC 2 years ago (Carry On Baby) to spread the love of babywearing to urbanites near and far.
ReplyDeleteI wore my son everyday for the first six months as I took him to work with me, and now that he's a rambunctious ten month old it is still our favorite mode of getting around together. I've been following your pinterest for a while and think the sling diaries are gorgeous, I long to take photos as beautiful as your past subjects. thank you for this opportunity!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing way to share the love of babywearing! I wore my firstborn for years and now have an 8 week old who absolutely loves it. I would be honored to be given the opportunity to chronicle such a beautiful period of my life.
ReplyDeletewhat a fun post! such beautiful mamas, too. it would be an honor to be picked to join the bunch. i love all of the positive support the sling diaries has brought to babywearing!
ReplyDeletewe are a baby wearing family over here--with three kiddos our slings and wraps have gotten a lot of use over the years. our littlest (3 months old) has an ever-growing affection for being wrapped up tight next to his mama and would love to charm your audience!
I love this series and we'd love to participate. We take plenty of photos of the kids but photos of mama are few and far between, and a sling challenge would certainly help with that.

I would love to be a part of the sling diaries. My sweet, cuddly five month old son always wants to be with me, and without the sling, I wouldn't be able to keep him so close. I have a disability that keeps me wheelchair bound, and the Sakura bloom sling has been a lifesaver.
ReplyDeleteAs a result of the sling, I'm able to get everything done around the house that I wouldn't be capable of doing with him in my arms otherwise. Not only that, but we've been able to enjoy daily walks to Grandpa's house, and further.
Having the sling has brought such a closeness between my son, Liam, and I. It has also brought a freedom that I never expected to have as a disabled mother. I wanted Liam to have all the opportunities and growing experiences as a child growing up with a non-disabled mother would have. Thanks to my Sakura sling, I can take him everywhere, and he is able to experience all the things that he may have missed out on otherwise.
I would love to have the opportunity to take beautiful pictures, and go on adventures during my sling diaries challenge. I think that it would also incredible to show people how baby wearing can empower disabled mothers.
I would love to participate in sling diaries. I'm a mother and amateur photographer located in Hong Kong. I have a 12 month old daughter who loves her Sakura Bloom sling.
ReplyDeleteBabywearing in Asia is a tradition as old as having babies, and I'm proud to be a part of this tradition.
I love the benefits of babywearing! Not only does wearing my little one require less "stuff" to lug around, I love having him close. He is able to explore the world from my level. I love the closeness and the bond that is developed by wearing my baby.
ReplyDeleteI have followed The Sling Diaries closely and love to read everyones perspective of babywearing.
I am a faithful baby-wearing -homeschooling-photographer momma to five little girls in Ontario, Canada. I would looooove to be involved with you sling diaries!! My blog is: www.gigiphotography.com/blog ...... I think the reason I'd love to be involved is to encourage other moms of many that they can still hold and love their baby even with busy with a large family. smile
ReplyDeleteI would absolutely love to participate! I have just had my second son, Sebastian and he is now 3 months old. We used a Sakura Bloom sling with my first son Samuel as we were living in London and it made it so easy to navigate the city with him to close to me. I love the sweet moments you get with your little one when they are so close to you.
ReplyDeleteWe have recently relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana from London and are living downtown. We love exploring our new city: taking walks and going to parks and markets. Now that we have our second child, the sling is especially useful since it allows me to keep little Sebby close to me and keeps my hands free for caring for Samuel.
I would love to learn more about how to carry my darling Seb in the Sakura bloom and to be able to document my love for my boys through this journey of babywearing. We would love to share the precious moments in our daily life as well as our adventures and travels. My blog is where I document our family life and a place for me to grow in photography. The blog is called Oh Beauty: ohbeauty.blogspot.com
Thank you for considering my family! xx Ann
I would absolutely love to be involved in The Sling Diaries! I have two boys (under two!) and baby wearing is an important part of our family and how we relate to our boys. Elliot, my oldest, loves to see the world through our eyes. He is one of the most social and joyful babies I have ever seen, and I am so honored to have him as my son. My youngest, Asher, is only 7 weeks. The sling is instant sleep magic. He loves to be snuggled close to me, and it is such joy to my mama heart.
ReplyDeleteMy family has gone through some hard times lately and this would be the perfect thing to lift our spirits! We would be honored to be apart of showing the world the benefits of Babywearing and that Sakura Bloom is essential to it. It's a great sling!- the best we have tried.
Also, we live in Santa Cruz, CA. It's the perfect place to baby wear, because we can be outside year round. We are always exploring, whether it's the redwoods or the beach. :)
You can find my blog here: http://missverse.blogspot.com/
This is amazing! I would love to be a part of spreading the joy of Babywearing to others! My family is from Nashua, NH and you can find my blog at http://mathairlauren.wordpress.com/

I really like the idea of normalizing babywearing through sharing photos of daily life. I'm expecting my 7th baby next month and am looking forward to wearing him/her. My last two pregnancies both resulted in twins so I've done my fair share of wearing two babies at once and am excited to just wear a singleton. My blog is www.itstwinsanity.com.
ReplyDeleteI'm a photographer and an avid slinger and the documentary aspect of this project appeals to me most! As the momma behind the camera I am not often in the pictures so I would love to take part in this project and capture such a special time in my life with my girls. www.eliciagraves.com/blog
ReplyDeleteI love baby wearing but I have never tried a ring sling. Yours are just gorgeous, making this opportunity all the more exciting. A monthly themed prompt is exactly the motivation I need to have some sling adventures and take great pictures!
ReplyDeleteI have been researching slings for the past two weeks. each day i try to spend some time getting both myself and my 4 week old baby boy used to babywearing. i have yet to purchase a sling but am SO ready to get going. we've been trying the moby and the ergo to date - both of which baby river is not quite sold on. i really want to find a sling that i feel excited about wearing out and about. excited and confident. :) i would love to be a part of this series and get the motivation to get out of the house and find a new independence now that i'm a mom. :) www.vickichristine.com
ReplyDeleteOoo, there are a lot of aspects to this project that are interesting. I love the idea of documenting life through sling wearing. I always want to take note of the common, everyday things we do together. I'm a first time Momma to a 3 month old girl, and we're still getting used to baby wearing. She loves it when we do, and a project like this would really be motivational to babywear more, and idea which I love.
ReplyDeleteI would love to participate in the Sling Diaries! A friend of mine was one of the participants last time, and she inspired me to wear my babies! I lead a busy life, and love having my little ones as close to me as possible, whenever possible. I have a three, almost four-year-old, a two year old, and an 8 month old- all girls. I would love to take the babywearing journey with the other amazing women that have already been selected!
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing a woman from another country walking through the corridor of the Seattle airport wearing her baby in a sling probably ten years ago, before I was ready to have my own children, I have been fascinated by seeing all kinds of people wearing their children. The sling this woman wore was colorful and beautiful; something from her native country, I am sure. I have worn both of my children in a wrap or a sling until I couldn't any longer because of being so pregnant with the next child that I couldn't carry them any more. This time, my third, brand new baby will be worn too. My stomach still too tender to carry him, my husband has been doing the wearing for these first two weeks. It is one of my favorite things my husband wears. Nothing looks hotter than my man with a baby warm and cozy tied to him. I would love to document our baby wearing experience this time with my newest sweetheart for the sakura bloom sling diaries.

wow, you have an overwhelming job choosing a 15th!! Jodi, from Che & Fidel, suggested I should enter...so here I am.
ReplyDeleteI have a VERY heavy (over 10kgs already) 7mo old boy and love to wear him, but am not sure it's possible for much longer due to his weight. Jodi assures me your slings work wonderfully for larger babies/toddlers so I would be grateful for the opportunity to try it out and record it at the same time.
My blog is humble, but sincere. Thanks for the opportunity. Dee
This is so exciting! I followed Bekah from My Little Loves during the first Sling Diaries. I can't wait to hear from all of these mamas and see their beautiful photos! I just visited your FB page and am now following all of your projects on Pinterest. I love wearing my 9 month old in a sling. We take walks, do dishes, laundry, vacuum, and even work on art projects! I blog at http://loveartbaby.com and I would love the opportunity to try out your slings. Mine is not as wide, and I like to have him sitting deep. Best wishes choosing your 15th! I will be following along :)
ReplyDelete"Sakura" means "cherry blossom" in Japanese. Love this word full of poetry, delicateness and awakening... To me, it's what birth is all about. I am expecting Baby Girl#2 by the end of October and will definitely carry her close to my heart as I have been doing for the last 9 months.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be your lucky Sakura Mum#15 and would be so grateful to document my love of babywearing with my two French-German girls in Paris and be inspired by other mums through photos and thoughts!
Nube: lait-fraise.blogspot.com
Our nomadic little family would love to be part of The Sling Diaries. We live in a cozy bohemian flat in Paris and are preparing to return to the wild West Coast of Bali with our friends and work mates.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to all the exhausting fun of taking care of my little boy I write this blog
http://bahasabeach.blogspot.fr/
and help with communication & publicity for iVoltage a tech startup working with 3D cameras and enhanced reality.
Our adventures take us around France, Asia and the United States. As a traveling mom I often worry Theo sees too much change and instability. For me baby wearing is an important way to provide assurance and, now that I have a walking explorer, keep Theo close yet interested by what he sees around us.
Being part of The Sling Diaries would be an incredible inspiration. I'm always looking out for collaborative photo projects would be ecstatic to join all the interesting women involved.
My father was an unconventional father. He stayed home with me, did the cleaning and the cooking and wore me around the home. He wore me when we went for walks. I vividly remember arching my back on his back, leaning far back to see the world upside down and to watch my father's heels disappear underneath my body as he walked on. We bobbed in sync, creating our own rhythm. People stopped to look at us. Today at 34 years old and with a 9 month old son in our sling, I am surprised that people still stop and look. That's alright; as long as my son and I are in simpatico, bobbing to our own beat. Check out our life at www.brooklynsweetbrooklyn.tumblr.com.
ReplyDeleteI love babywearing, and I love how international this episode of the sling diaries is going to be. I am from Amsterdam, and although I see some other parents carrying their children close to them in some type of babycarrier, I am surprised at how many people still use prams and strollers. With the small apartments, narrow & steep stairs and pavements blocked by parked bicycles, trees and other obstacles I find it so much more practical to just carry our little boy. And it's loads of fun! I would love to be part of the diaries, to add some practical Dutch flavor to the mix.

Babywearing is so beautiful and practical - we use our sling in the shower and behind the cash register at work! My favorite part of vol I was seeing all the older babies and toddlers being worn. My son is only 4 months, and I'm glad to know I have a nice long time to keep wearing him around! I'm a diarist by nature and I'd love to be a part of round II.
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to be selected. I currently have a 3 year old and a 3 month old, both boys! We live in Oregon and love babywearing. We were graced this summer & fall here with beautiful weather and have enjoyed adventuring. We love the pacific northwest and would love to show it to the world (even in the long rainy season). My 3 month old loves being worn in wraps & slings... it is his #1 form of transportation :)
ReplyDeleteI am not a huge blogger at the moment, but it something I'd love to get more into. I have two blogs now:
danieledwinandcourtneylou.blogspot.com
courtneybphotography.blogspot.com
I would love to be considered! I'm a mama to three little girls who are 5, 3, and 2. Being that my youngest is 2, one would think we don't babywear any longer. However, just because she is two doesn't mean that I am not a busy mama who needs to be hands free, and have a toddler snuggled into me is a plus! :)
ReplyDeletePart of what appeals to me about this, is the fact that I can do something I love (actually two things), writing and babywearind and promote babywearing while I am at it!
No matter what happens, I'm looking forward to following along, watching, and learning! :)

I would be honored to be a part of the sling diaries! I've been an ardent baby wearer since the birth of my daughter in 2009. Now that she is three and a half I don't wear her so much but my new little squish, my 10 week old little boy, is a grateful recipient of my love of wearing! I'm passionate about spreading my love of baby wearing and sharing the benefits with other mamas! I started a new blog to document both my journey as a mother and my explorations in baby wearing. It's called: http://beanbalm.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI am a mama to 4 boys, all worn since birth. I would love to participate in the Sling Diaries to document how much babywearing means to our family. I have my own sense of style, and Sakura Bloom slings definitely suit me. I think life with my boys is pretty fabulous and exciting, and I love to share my experiences with others. <3
ReplyDeleteI don't blog much personally, but I'd love the push to get better at it since I do it as a job. http://thechanses.blogspot.com/
I'd love to be part of the sling diaries. I have an 8 year old and a three year old (who I still wear on occasion.) I'm going to have our third baby in Jan, so it would be fun to blog through the journey of transitioning back from toddler wearing to baby wearing. Eeeeek it would be cool!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to participate. Documenting babywearing is something that I enjoy. Babywearing is a part of our daily life around here :) I own a ring sling, but I'd love to try a Sakura Bloom! I currently wear my 22 month old multiple times a day, and I am expecting baby #4 in the spring.
ReplyDeleteOh! I would love to participate with my blog. I am currently wearing my second child and experimenting with ways of wearing him with his club feet. Currently he's in full leg casts which has taken some getting used too but he's happiest in a sling. We also carry our 3 year old in her carriers on a regular basis.
ReplyDelete!!! for babywearing. As a single mother to a 7.5 month old bundle of chunky cuteness, I think I could offer another perspective on the importance and for me... essentialness of babywearing. My little bundle is on my all the time, watches me cook our food, brush my teeth, walk our pup, and explore our windy city. It has helped me but also has begun to shape his personality. He experiences the world in a different way, and I would love to show that perspective.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been the best at keeping up with my almost 7 year blog as of late, but I will get back at it!

This sounds like an amazing opportunity. I was inspired to get a Sakura Bloom sling last year after reading the sling diaries!
ReplyDeleteThis...
ReplyDeleteAs a mama to five lovelies, my littlest being 20 months, I'm well aware of how I'm chasing time as it races by. What a beautiful way to capture our next six-months! Currently my iphone and Instagram are my favorite medium.
I love community and babywearing what fun to be a part of something so beautiful.
My blog is www.OneRoofAfrica.com
i love wearing my youngest, a hefty 4 month old little man. it allows me to be "all there" for him even when my attention must be divided between him and his brother. just today we went to the grocery, and bruno hung out in my wrap for a full hour, just watching the world, while seb and i did the shopping. it was wonderful how it gave me not only more mobility, but helped bruno feel secure and able to explore the world around him.

ReplyDeleteYou have inspired me beyond words... My 2 passions besides my baby boy and wearing him all the time is writing and photography. I received your email about the Sling Diaries 1 contest and because of it I made a facebook. No one could persuade me to make one but when you guys had a chance to win a Beautiful Sakura Bloom Sling... It wasnt even a thought, my fingers just clicked! As I went thru each blog and every diary post one was more beautiful than the next and the pictures told such a story that I could see the love pouring out from each picture... It is true... a picture can tell 1000 words. Shortly after my son was born I finally made the investment on a camera that could help me document each and every beautiful moment my son & I share with the world. I've wanted to start a blog for years in hopes of also writing a book and look, I've finally started one... Thanks to you again.. You've given me the push I've needed to grow in the areas I have always dreamed of. I hope with being involved with this project that I can share my story thru words & photography and leave an imprint on someones life, like you have done for me. http://unxpectedblessing.blogspot.com/
