I'm halfway through week 35, people! Here's what's happening:
I'm totally starting to slow down. I feel a lot heavier and I get winded and tired much faster. At the same time, my brain feels like it's speeding up...the nesting is starting to kick in, and the internal narrative of all the things I need/want to do in the next few weeks is on overdrive. Meals to cook and freeze, baby clothes to wash and sort, furniture to arrange, kids to cuddle and memorize exactly as they are at this very moment in time.
Pretty high up on the list is some mommy pampering time...I desperately need a haircut and I am dying for a mani-pedi. I usually don't sweat those things too much but lately I've been feeling an urgency about it, like if I don't take some time to invest in some personal upkeep now it's going to be a year before I get another chance, lol.
The kiddos are getting more and more excited about their soon-to-arrive sibling, especially Walker. Every night, as soon as the light goes out, but before we fall asleep he says, "night baby, love you baby" which is just about the sweetest thing I've ever heard. Usually once or twice during the day he comes over to my belly to hug it and then yells, "OUT BABY" in a very bossy voice. He's ready to be a big brother.
Jackson shows real talent for brainstorming potential baby names. His current favorite is April if it's a girl, which he's totally rooting for.
The baby him or herself seems to be doing great. Strong heartbeat, and lots of kicks and hiccups. I can't believe it's almost time to meet!
I am so over maternity clothes right now. I'm at that point where even the stretchiest-waisted jeans are too tight and always riding down. I can't tie my shoes and putting on socks is an adventure. Leggings rule. I got this dress on sale at Motherhood Maternity, and it's the most comfy stretchy soft thing I own right now. Leopard flats are from Target, and the jacket shown below is borrowed from Taro (Uniqlo Men's). Bracelets are H&M.
Stay tuned for one or two more reports before it's time! Eeeps!
XOXO,
Leigh

lovely and I like your dress! I reach week 36 tomorrow. can't believe that it's so close. I'm totally impressed by how you (and so many other mothers) manage 2 or more young ones while being pregnant...at the moment I can just about keep up with life with my husband and cat. Take care!
ReplyDeleteLooking good, mama! I hope you get that haircut/mani-pedi v. soon. Like this weekend. Plan it or it won't happen (but you know that:) xoxo

ReplyDeleteBlessings on your delivery day, and ever after.
you look great! i'm at 32 weeks and feeling tired of winter layering. the only shoes that fit my swollen feet are rainboots, which definitely slow me down. i wish it were spring so i could wear flats or sandals and maxi dresses without tights or leggings!

ReplyDeleteI'm 36 weeks & it's great to hear that I'm not the only one with a brain going a mile a minute with all the things that need to get done! This week I've been to the dentist & have appointments booked for getting my tax done, hair cut & colour & a pedicure. Our pre-baby BBQ is this weekend so I'm also madly cleaning the house, making decorations for it & finishing off the nursery. Next week is for relaxing.....
ReplyDeleteYou look great! If you don't mind me asking, what lip color are you wearing in this post?
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm wearing Laura Mercier sheer lip color in Tender Lips.
DeleteI am right behind you... I'll be 35 weeks this Friday... and I'm glad to know this all-of-a-sudden slow down is normal (this is my first). I'm exhausted! And I, too, am stressing about getting my hair cut and getting a mani/pedi before this wee-one arrives.
ReplyDeleteYou look wonderful. Best of luck in the last few weeks. :-)
You are like the most beautiful pregnant woman ever.
