So, this is not so much a birth story as an amazing video of the events that unfolded immediately following the birth of little Mila Amie Economopoulos Jones in the back seat of a NYC taxi last week. What I love the most about this is seeing the mother's supremely composed, in-charge, and instinctively smart handling of what unfolded after her baby was born. As you'll see, a bevy of paramedics descended on the scene to help and usher the family to the hospital, and in the midst of all the hubbub mama is just cool as a cucumber, insisting on skin-to-skin-contact and popping a boob out for the baby like it ain't no thang. "We delivered the baby ourselves," she says at one point, rather matter-of-factly. She's fabulous.

what did they stick in the baby towards the end? what an incredible mama.
ReplyDeletewow this is great, she is an awesome mom!
ReplyDeleteAMAZING!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing!! What a beautiful pair of strong women they are!! I'm 33 weeks along, and couldn't help but tear up.
ReplyDeleteI love that when she was being wheeled through the hospital there was all the commotion around them, but mom and baby could not have been more peaceful. In their own world of new love and life. What an entrance!!
ReplyDeleteSo amazing! How calm she was!
ReplyDeleteHoly crap! This woman is amazing! Although, I'm not gonna lie, I'd really like to refrain from birthing my future children in a cab! I can't even imagine! That baby will never live down that story! She will always have the story that tops all stories to share!
ReplyDeleteThis mama is my hero. She was brilliant. I'm not sure I could have kept my head like that.
ReplyDeleteI have to hand it to the paramedics that they didn't freak out and try to keep mama and baby apart in order to do...whatever it is that they do. Although it's too often treated as one, birth is not a medical condition. :)
ReplyDeleteThis was so beautiful! I got a little choked up in parts. I want to know this woman, she's so incredible and calm throughout the whole thing. Just amazing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! But does anyone else think it's odd that they kept calling her "it" for so long?
ReplyDeleteAmazing. I did just want to swat away all the extraneous folks but I know they felt they had a job to do even though almost everything had been done. 45 minute labour must have been INTENSE.
ReplyDeleteso awesome! I love that they are breastfeeding the whole time. What a lucky baby to have such a calm mother!!
ReplyDeleteWow what an inspiring pair!
