family pic

Just thought I'd share ;)

PS: I un-decorated the tree today, and felt a little sad doing so! I'm curious, how long do you leave your holiday decorations up?

  1. Beautiful ;). We took our tree and decorations down today as well, got my son to help which assuaged his feelings of doom at Christmas being over. He was especially excited to find a tiny wrapped present hidden amongst the branches, supposedly from 'the tree fairy' but she seems to share my mother's handwriting - don't know when she slipped that in there but it was lovely of her.

I miss the tree lights this evening...

  2. we took ours down today too with frequent, sad outbursts from the 2 yr old ensuing. Sad but since he rewires the lights daily and as the tree is something of a death trap/choking hazard for the 9 month old crawling around, it was more than time. happy new year!

  5. Your family is the cutest! I coaxed my husband in to leaving the decorations up for one more week. I always feel a little sad packing everything up, especially because the house looks so empty afterwards.

  6. Beautiful photo! We leave our decor up about the same amount of time as you (in Catholic tradition...) I felt only a little sad - I'm usually relieved to take it down, as lovely as Christmas can be.

  7. Through 12th Night per the husband's wishes. I grew up with a family who would have them down by the 27th, but that changed the moment I moved in with the hubby. Though neither one of us is Catholic, we still hold to many of the Catholic traditions of Spain and South Louisiana. The Christmas tree staying up through 12th Night is one of those.

Off to make the first King Cake of the year now.

  10. This is a great photo, Leigh! I woke up on New Year's Day feeling very 'over it' and so I promptly un-decorated that morning. However, once night-time rolled around, I was feeling very sad that all of the sparkle was gone. It's a bittersweet feeling, but I guess i'm ready for clean, bright spring colors.

  11. Still have the full Christmas display up at our house . . . not sure when I'll have the time to take them down. Maybe by the end of January?
