Maternité, 1908 by Giovanni Giacometti (1868-1933)
From the Christie's auction page,
where I discovered this work (it sold for$2,186,161!):
"The painting entitled Maternité turned up quite unexpectedly, being unknown to researchers and for this reason not listed in the catalogue raisonné. This is a rare work, which has been in a private collection for a long time. The family was an important subject in Giovanni Giacometti's oeuvre, to which the artist returned again and again. The Maternité of 1908 is a family portrait depicted in the shade of a walnut tree in the artist's garden in Stampa in the summer. The figures are his wife Annetta and three of his four children: the infant is Giovanni's youngest son Bruno; to the left in the grass sits Alberto and to the right, Diego. The daughter Ottilie is not present in this painting."
