August 1-7th is World Breastfeeding Week! To celebrate, here are a few of my favorite breastfeeding links for information, inspiration, community, and other resources:

I would love to know your favorite Lactivist websites/blogs, so leave a comment with a link!

  3. On dolphin nursing patterns:

How long do dolphin mothers nurse their young?

In the wild, mothers nurse their calves for at least three years, but nursing up until the age of ten has been reported ...

One female called "Lick" nursed from her mother for 8-9 years.

  9. I've just found this blog. I already love it, and have spent ages pouring over your entries. I have a 23 month old son, whom I stopped breastfeeding last month, mainly as he wasn't interested anymore..... but some of your pictures already have me missing the experience of breastfeeding.... but I'm glad I managed to keep it up for this long as most of the people I know with babies stopped after about 6 months. Great blog, will check it out more often.
