I have seen this before!!! Crazy, isn't it? What we are made to think!!!
Wow! I am done now too! Our tap water is really bad though. It smells like you are drinking straight from a swimming pool and they put so many unnecessary things in it. But who knows what I was drinking out of that bottle... I am thinking about getting a reverse osmosis filter for our sink.
We gave us bottled water a couple years ago, and never looked back. Now when I drink it, I feel like it tastes like plastic. We got the biggest Brita purifier we could find, and keep it in our fridge. We just fill it up every couple days and always have cold, filtered water ready to go!
I stopped drinking bottles water 8 months ago for these exact reasons. Thank you so much for sharing, more people need to see this and realize their choices make a difference.
We researched filters and have one of the best ones on the market in our fridge. There are certainly cities that add all kinds of things that are better to be filtered out (like fluoride). I love my stainless steel water "bottle" and have no intention of turning back. There was a time when we didn't have bottled water - and we somehow managed to get along just fine. :)The other item the video doesn't address are the chemicals that leech into the water from the plastic. When the cases are shipped in hot trucks around the country - chemicals leak into the water causing you to get a bit more than you bargained for. Thanks for posting - really important information.
Thanks for posting this. We stopped drinking it several years ago. I still feel my skin crawl when I see folks loading up pallets of bottled water in their cart!Best,Tina
Wow, this included some details I didn't know! To add to that, here something recently published in Mother Jones: http://motherjones.com/politics/2009/09/fiji-spin-bottleAnd wonderchris brings up a good point too about the chemicals leaching into the water. Such a huge body of evidence that we shouldn't trust water in a plastic bottle
I've had a water filter at home for years, but never totally cut out bottled water. This really pushes me to take that last step! It's depressing to think of the bottle of water I just drank sitting on a mountain in India. Not to mention the health concerns.
i am guilty of buying too many water bottles! but recently i switched to a pitcher of Brita filter and an aluminum water bottle and it's great!!! best thing i've ever done!
I love this vid! Its amazing how powerful advertising can be and what we can be suckered in to believing!Have you seen the vid 'The Story of Stuff'? Its by the same people and is equally as thought provoking.(Discovered your awesome blog from MBC's new 'Surprise Her' button!)
Thanks for posting this, Leigh. I need to be more vigilant about carrying my refillable bottle when I travel.A really important documentary came out a few years ago ... 2008, I think. "FLOW, For Love of Water" adds a powerful global perspective we in the privileged U.S. need to bring to consciousness.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGd9D4J0lag&feature=player_embedded
Excellent. I was having stomach issues, and started cutting things out. I decided to march myself to Target, where I bought a Brita Filter that attaches to the faucet (makes the water so tasty), and a nanolene plastic bottle, to bring with me to work. And seriously, I feel so much better now. When I must buy bottled water, I actually buy Dasani or Aquafina, because I would prefer filtered tap water over Poland Spring, which I have heard may contain sewer sludge! ICK! I truly believe that bottled water is not only bad for the environment, but for our health as well.
Thank you for posting this video. Love it.
We stopped buying bottled water several years ago. Reusable water bottles are much more practical, better for the environment, and...most cost-effective email@example.com
