I was delighted to see this photo of Rachel Feinstein in the May, 2010 issue of American Vogue. Shot by Annie Leibovitz, Feinstein is a sculptor, mother of three, and the wife of painter John Currin. She is also (famously) the muse of designer Marc Jacobs. I love that she is shown breastfeeding while the caption describes her as a "goddess". Fab!

Spellbinding! In my opinion, Breast feeding should always be en vogue ;-)
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteFab and great that that's not a tiny baby, continuing to normalise breastfeeding into the toddler years
ReplyDeleteYay!
Isn't that a sumptuous photo? Love it!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteI adore it - and look at that healthy nursie baby!!! (Mine were just as chunky until they were weaned!)
ReplyDeleteSo Beautiful! Like a Titian painting.
ReplyDeleteFabulous! I nurse a 3 year old and it's so nice to see breastfeeding depicted in a positive way. Go Vogue!
ReplyDeleteWow, she really does look like a goddess in a painting! Wonderful to see in Vogue.
ReplyDeletePerfect!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous - have added a link here to my blog. Lou
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful picture! I love it! I actually did a double take when I saw American Vogue : x
ReplyDeleteToo cool! Love that the baby is diaper free too. So beautiful and natural.
ReplyDeleteUmmm, it doesn't show she is breast feeding... she is just sitting there with her child with her boob out.
ReplyDeleteI could do that with my child... hell, I could do that with my OWN mother!
It's a beautiful photo, but she's not breastfeeding. Like the previous commenter said, she's just sitting there with her boob hanging out and a baby in her lap. Maybe it implies that she just finished breastfeeding, I don't know. All I know is that a baby is not latched on, hence, she's not breastfeeding.
ReplyDeleteShe totally does look like a goddess...and her baby looks like an angel!

While I agree that it is a beautiful photo...I also agree that she is NOT breastfeeding! It would have been a much more powerful image of breastfeeding if the baby had actually been latched on! To me this is a photo of implied breastfeeding.
ReplyDeleteso so SO beautiful.
