Bathing Beauties

This swimsuit by Norma Kamali is my all-time favorite. I covet it every year, but at $350, it's just more than I can justify spending. Looking for more affordable alternatives, I discovered the Natalie one-piece from Anthropologie. It's less than half the price of the Kamali, and yet the design is extremely similar:
What do you think, readers? Should I spring for the Natalie? Also, will it really ever be summertime again? I'm crossing my fingers that Spring, at least, is right around the corner...

  1. I've been wanting a classic looking suit like this for the past couple of years, but I can't bring myself to splurge. Both of those suits look great! I think you'd be happy with either one!

  4. That is adorable. I say get it if you've been wanting the more expensive one. Why are bathing suits so expensive?! I'm starting my search now for something that covers but has some pizzazz...kind of like the anthropologie one.
Also love the picture of you with that gorgeous babyette black sling..the sling goes with the shoes! You are a fashion inspiration.

  7. i have been wanting a suit like that ever since i saw one in lucky magazine maybe five years ago - i really wish that i could remember who designed it and where to find it. i looked at it so many times you'd think it was ingrained in my brain, but no... i think it still would be if i'd never found my current favorite suit - a zebra print in just the style you're loving, made surprisingly by land's end!!!

jantzen has a new collection called the heritage collection with a black one you'd love.

this website has a ton of retro inspired suits (warning, though, some are super tacky bikinis in my opinion - bikinis like the ones i'm referring to just aren't my thing, though, so maybe you won't find them tacky):

  8. there's a company based here in Portland that makes vintage-inspired swimsuits. I've known a few people who have bought them and say they are super well made. Check out their site:

ps: looks like the sell that Jantzen one too, right around $100.

  13. If you can get over the fact that it is designed by Land's End (and sold at Sears) this is really cute and has a similar retro feel, but in a 2-piece. I'm thinking of getting it in kelly green.

  16. You would look fab in it! I've been thinking about how swimsuit season will be here before we know it...

  17. You should!

But the model is beyond being healthy. That woman is anorexic. I would not want to support such designers by showing their images around ...

  18. Never hesitate when you find a swimsuit you love. Buy it, buy it! It'll look even better when the sun comes out. Not that we're having that trouble in Australia...
