LOVE IT!!!! What an awesome idea!!! So much better then uniformity!
ReplyDeletelove! i actually wish i haddone that...!!
ReplyDeletemy bridesmaids totally chose their own dresses, and it looked awesome! this was in 2005 though :)
ReplyDeletelove! i so want to do something like this...
ReplyDeleteI love it! and may just do it when I get married!
ReplyDeletei see im not the only one that saved that photo! so killer
ReplyDeleteLOVE!
ReplyDeletei LOVE it!!! i wish my sister would love the idea. she's all set on having all three of us (the other sisters) match one another completely - even though we each have a completely different style. i wish she'd give in a little and just request that we all wear the same color or something!!! i am having the hardest time convincing her that this is totally in now... being that i got married almost ten years ago, all of my bridesmaids did match in dress and color... time for a vow renewal ceremony!!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a fan!
ReplyDeleteLove weddings! I have just been an attendant in my little sister's wedding - you can see the photos on my blog at www.cricketwife.com. Also check out my 25 Best Blogs of 2009 list at: http://www.cricketwife.com/2010/01/25-best-blogs-of-2009-part-1.html
ReplyDeletethat makes so much more sense than the uniforms - you choose your bridesmaids because of who they are to you. Much more natural. i wish i'd thought of that when i was married. boo.
ReplyDeleteOh how hard I tried to get my bridesmaids to wear whatever they wanted! They ended up rebelling and deciding they wanted me to pick a dress out for them (less pressure, I guess) so we just did the J.Crew thing.
ReplyDeleteExcellent idea! I let my maid of honor, and my bridesmaids (my sisters) choose their dresses. My maid of honor wore a dress from a wedding she attended the same weekend, and my sisters ended up choosing coordinated dressed from J.Crew. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI love this! I love breaking away from tradition!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new banner!
ReplyDeleteSure wish I could go back 39 years. I would definitely have done things differently. Love this idea and Love what you've done to your blog (I can't believe I didn't notice).
ReplyDeleteI love it! And I love your new look here!
ReplyDeleteSteph
love this so much.
ReplyDeletei loved my wedding, but looking forward to a vow renewal in the future. my style is different now and certain things mean so much more to me.
I like it, but I'm the odd woman out - I'm into the whole bridesmaids matching thing ;-(
ReplyDeleteThat is such a lovely idea!
ReplyDeleteI *LOVE* this trend. I am so not into the whole matchy-matchy thing. Letting each bridesmaid select her own dress is more practical and makes for great photos too!

I've been lucky enough to be a bridesmaid in several weddings where the bride let us choose our own dresses... a few other brides let us choose our own dresses but SHE chose the color pallet. Either way, letting a bridesmaid have the freedom to express herself in something that makes HER feel good is never a bad idea IMO, and I never understood why a bride would have it any other way. You're asking your friends and family to stand up for you on your special day, we have to buy the dress, the shoes, etc. so why on earth would you MAKE your bridesmaid wear something ugly, a gross color or in a style that doesn't suit their body type? SELFISH MUCH?
ReplyDeleteLove this picture. Wish more brides would let go of their need to control and let their bridesmaids shine too. Either that, or don't have bridesmaids.
