I also design and create jewelry which keeps my creativity buzzing.

Hello! I am a 29 year-old Mama to my almost 2 year old baby girl and I have a great husband who is a wonderful Daddy. We live in Michigan and I am a high school Chemistry teacher. (I know, kind of weird for me being a public school teacher to read the blog of an unschooler - but I do enjoy your blog!) I love to take pictures and my favorite subject is my daughter. :) Oh, and I am probably one of your only blog readers who does not have a blog herself. :)
ReplyDeleteHi there! Very much enjoying your blog from Florida, and found it I think through offbeatbride.com --> offbeatmama.com--> your blog.
ReplyDeleteNo kids yet, but many of my friends have children who I love and our time will come one of these days.
Congrats on your readership!
My name's Ali. :)
ReplyDeleteI am probably one of the people that is furthest from mommmyhood (at the moment), and just adore your blog and your beautiful children! Plus, your views on home birthing have been so intriguing to me! Keep up the lovely work Leigh.

I don't really know how I came to your blog, but I definitely come back. I don't have kids yet and probably won't have any time soon. I don't have baby fever yet.
But I always believed women should know as much about themself as possible, so I was always interested in pregnancy and giving birth.
Now I know I want to have my babies at home, whenever my time will come.
Thank you so much!

Hi Leigh!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Susan and I have only just entered my 30th year of life, but despite what some people have told me, I couldn't be happier. I feel blessed to live in southern California about two miles from the ocean now, but I was also happy living in Maryland just 10 miles west of Washington, D.C. There is just something about the east coast that will forever have a piece of my heart. I certainly miss the forests and woodland animals and the majesty of the seasons that can be seen there.
I am happily married (ten years this March!), and because of our love we have three children thus far (a nine year old son, an almost four year old son, and an almost two year old daughter). I think that's a pretty great start :) I have mentioned this before, but two of my children were brought into this world by the loving care of midwives and I will never give birth - if I can help it - any other way!
In college I was a comparative literature major, intending on a career as a lit professor, but after having my first son and getting to experience motherhood, I decided that I wanted to hold that position full time from there on out. And I haven't looked back. Now I get to share my love of literature - and many other things - with my children!
I teach my children at home. I teach them to cook because I love to cook. I teach them to read because I love to read. I teach them about colors and tradition because I love those things. And so on. I love to give my children experiences and memories over material possessions. I love waking up in the morning to find my whole family has somehow ended up in my ever shrinking queen-sized bed overnight - though only our daughter still officially calls our bed her own.
And lastly, I love living out my life of faith as an Eastern Catholic.
Hopefully this is the stuff you were hoping to find out!
hi, I'm Laura and I'm 28 and the mother of a gorgeous (& energetic) 21 month old, Evie. I'm from Australia.
ReplyDeleteI only work 1 day a week, so I'm mostly a housewife & I love it!
Hi :) I'm a mama of two kids (3 & 1 1/2...), living just north of Boston. I think I came here via Steph at Adventures in Babywearing, and have been loving your posts since!
ReplyDeleteHi there!
ReplyDeleteI'm Nicole and the mother of 2 unschooling boys. I live at the beach in a warehouse (built in 1920) that my husband converted into our current "green" home. I am a photographer, raw vegan, art inspired mom trying to explore life with my family... and our little dog Maui. Oh yeah, I am 33!
Found your blog through the Triathlon and Adventures in Babywearing... I'm 29, live in Phoenix, and it was always a dream of mine to live in NYC, so I like reading the blog of someone who's doing that, especially at my stage of life- young kids. I have a daughter who just turned one. I'm a public school teacher but I was homeschooled growing up, so it's nice to see another homeschooler of my generation. :-) Thanks for the fun posts!
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Deanna. I am a 36 year old mom of a 10 year old daughter. My husband and I live near Nashville Tennessee where I work in higher education. I enjoy reading your blog.
Hello!
ReplyDeleteI'm Sarah, just about 23, and mostly a lurker. I am currently finishing up my BA in Creative Writing in the San Francisco Bay Area and am nowhere near motherhood. I think I found you through Designers' Brew when she was still the Nerdy Fashionista. You caught me with your fashion and design posts, but the stories and photos of your little family have kept me around. :)
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI found your blog via Cup of Jo, I think, but I keep dropping by to look at your lovely pictures and read your stories.
I'm 26, about to get married and just adopted a tiny kitten called Percival.
I'm an artist, designer and blog-addict. I work for a community cultural development organisation in Australia (but I'd secretly rather spend all day in my studio making things).
Hi there...I'm Tina. I live in Kansas City with my husband and my son who will be 3 in March. I am a clinical social worker and play therapist. My area of research is in early childhood trauma (o-3) and attachment issues. I currently work for the school system. I love to read your blog because I love your posts about your kiddos and your pictures are beautiful. I blog mostly about being a working mom, things/stuff I love, music, travel, (sometimes)politics, parenting and I do a weekly post called "the Power of Play" about parent/child play. Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteFunny you posted this, this week, I have been trying to make an effort to come out of blog lurkdom :) Love your blog!

ReplyDeleteI'm a woman (yes, with a male-sounding name... It's from Return of the Native by Hardy) with a baby and a blog of her own. Living it up here in Wisconsin (which means, at the moment, smiling even though my nose hairs are frozen) and loving my husband (a D.C.), our daughter (15 months), our dogs (oooh, they're naughty) and our cats (7 of them. The poor couch!). Life is good.

I love your blog because of your commitment to natural birth, breastfeeding and baby wearing. Breastfeeding and helping other moms be successful at it is a real passion for me. I let my boys self wean. My oldest weaned when the youngest arrived and who knows when youngest will. (Rambling. Oops. Tend to do that.)
ReplyDeleteI really love your blog!

Hi Leigh
ReplyDeleteI'm Allison, and I'm from Australia.
I'm a doula and childbirth educator, and sling wearing Mum to O (4y) and M (5 months). M was waterbirthed at home, and I found your blog when I was stumbling around the interwebz at 3am one night (argggh pregnancy heartburn!), and realised we have some similar interests and ideas.
I'm also a huge New York-o-phile (along with Francophile!) and it's very definitely on my Next Holidy list. I guess in the meantime I'm living vicariously through you! Don't suppose you're interested in an Australian houseswap holiday? lol.
Oh, this has turned long. *Blush*

ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Vera and I'm probably not really your target group. Im 21 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I'm a student Media, Information and Communication and I'm just really digging blogs. By following them I get a quick insight in someones life. In this case yours. I really love your blog. I think it's really nice and interesthing. One thing I find kinda strange is that apparently it's not normal to give birth a home in America. In The Netherlands it's completely different. Only if you've got a real good reason you'll go to the hospital, but normally you give birth at home. I wanted to share that with you ;-)..
Hi, I am mama of 2 (7 and 5), live in France! I enjoy the short fun posts!

I currently live in Australia but lived in the USA for 13 years with my husband and 2 children (girl 7 and boy 5).
My daughter plays your you tube slinging clip for anybody that will watch...she loves it!

Hi!
ReplyDeleteI'm a semi-crunchy granola mama living in North Dakota with my husband and 13-month-old son.
We home birth, try to eat healthy and simple, use cloth diapers, and try to use common sense and the Bible when it comes to life and parenting.
I'm trying to start my own photography business (a little difficult considering we're still new in this little town). Maybe, someday, this will tie into my other passion which is birth. I'm an aspiring doula, but wouldn't mind being a birth photographer either.
Hi!

Cheers,
Elena
Hey!
ReplyDeleteI'm probably one of your youngest readers, as I am 23. I live in Bucharest Romania and I am very passionate about decoration, homes and anything related.
I'm not a mom, but I plan to be very soon that is one of the reasons I'm following your blog.
Keep up the good work
Sorry I am a little late jumping on the "saying hi" post, but I am literally having a baby any day, and you know what that does to one's focus...

ReplyDeleteHi there, I'm Georgia! I live in Hollywood, CA in a tiny but cute apartment with my two cats, and I love reading your blog and getting a different perspective on life, seeing as how I'm single and childless (happily...for now). I work in a boring office, but my best friend and I have some exciting future prospects regarding work (it's a secret, for now), and in the meantime I'm a blogger/writer.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you!
Oh also! I'm about to be a first-time Auntie (like in the next couple days!), so expect some Aunt-cuddles photos from me soon!

I'm a 29 year-old bookbinder and letterpress printer in Brooklyn, mom to our 4 month-old (today!) little girl, and a fellow homebirther. My husband brews beer in our tiny apartment, too, so our bathtub's officially earned the title "multipurpose"! Your blog is wonderful and it's been great to read about someone else who finds so much joy in her children!
ReplyDeletehi Leigh!
ReplyDeleteI'm Hollie.. a mommy to a lovely little girl & CEO of my house for the time being. :] I find your blog to be very inspirational, so thank you!
ps. nice to meet you.
Hi! My name is Tiffany and I'm 3 months away from being a soon-to-be first time mommy to Nicolas. I've been seeing a midwife and planning on a natural birth center birth, but have recently run into insurance problems and may have to switch to a hospital.
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog and being inspired to wear my baby and not be afraid to tandem nurse when I get to that point. Nobody I know believes or knows about attachment parenting techniques so I've been finding my support on the internet!
Hi :) I'm Danielle, a soon to be mom and high school teacher in MN.
ReplyDeleteSending you many, happy, jolly, greetings from Croatia! :)
ReplyDeleteWhy hello! I'm Amanda, a 20-year-old student from the Midwest. I'm an aspiring psychologist with a keen interest in what makes people tick. I also love photography, historical literature, my cat, and the outdoors. I have no children (and don't intend to for quite a few years!) but I've thoroughly enjoyed reading your perspective on childbearing and motherhood, especially homebirth and babywearing, which I had never really been exposed to before.
ReplyDeleteim denise and have been reading your blog since you did the baby wearing video. so awesome BTW. i live in california and i have 3 kids, emma (almost) 6, aiden 3 and luke 8 months.

I'm Stacy -- a new reader. I found you via the contest you won for sling-wearing.
ReplyDeleteI'm the mama of two boys, ages 6 and 3, on the path to peace...
Who are you? How old are you? Where do you live? What do you do?
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm Joyce and I'll be 29 this year which kind of freaks me out. For now, I live in Utah. It's way too far away from the ocean for my liking so I'm making plans to move back to my motherland of California where I'll hopefully be finishing school and starting grad school.
I'm currently a student at Utah Valley University majoring in English with an emphasis in creative writing. I'm also doing a certificate of accounting but I promise that I'm not usually this overachieving. :)
I also love photography and my dream is to be a food and travel columnist and maybe even write a book on my travels with a few of my own photos in it.
P.S. I <3 your blog!
Hello, I'm 31, living in Portland OR for the last 6 yrs, but originally from the east coast. I got married last August--"thinking" about kids in the future (maybe next year?). You certainly make child bearing and raising seem easy.
