Two days after W's arrival, we figured out that we couldn't all keep fitting into our queen-sized bed. Not without feeling like sardines. So with some help from a friend, we dismantled our bed frame, put the queen mattress on the floor, and placed a twin mattress right next to it, creating one gigantic family bed. Here's a little before and after...
Before

After

We're looking to sell the bed frame (click here and let me know your best offer, if you're interested!) and meanwhile, I'm trying to envision pulling the room together decor-wise with this new vibe. It's kind of a wreck now, but I would love to create a romantic, gypsy/bohemian/caravan-y atmosphere to go with the floor beds. Here are some images that are inspiring me (all via Desire to Inspire)...

I love the wall mural. Can't wait to create my own little family nest, which won't be very long now. I'm 38 weeks pregnant and extremely excited about motherhood.
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful family. Congratulations on the new addition!

The Kiddo sure looks all comfy cozy!
ReplyDeletemy mom created a boho style room in her last apartment. It turned out so well. She used sheers behind the mattress instead of a headboard. very moroccan.
ReplyDeleteNice! We have a floor bed and wouldn't trade it for anything.
ReplyDeleteSo youall sleep in one bed?? all the time?
ReplyDeleteI dont know how you do it lol.
I try sleeping with my kids on occasion and its horrible.. they kick me in the face, roll on my stomach, etc..etc.. breathe into my ear lol.. the only time i sleep with them is on vacations or naps.. nap time i love together.. its not long enough for them to get to wild moving aro und :)
good idea tho putting the queen/twin together, i bet thats huge!! Lots of pillows would be fun :)
We have a floor bed too...ideal for co-sleeping/bed sharing. It's so amazing to all be in one bed together! I cannot imagine anything else.
ReplyDeleteWe struggle with 3 of us in our king size bed. Can not wait to see what you come up with. Sleeping and the space in which you do it is so important. No point slumming it ;). Congrats on the amazing birth of your latest babe. xo
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty inspiration! I love the idea.
ReplyDeleteHooray for mattresses on the floor. It's such a friendly option for people with babies. :)

We have slept with our daughter and she's now four. We're in the process of renovating her bedroom. Most people think we're mad to do it but I love it. I truly believe her immune system is great because of it and this time is so fleeting. I love having all my family around me. I can't wait to see what you make of your new space. xx
ReplyDeleteVery inspiring! Hope you share more photos -- I can't quite envision it at this angle. thinkin' of you lots!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI love this post... we are currently sleeping three to a bed(me, hubby, and one year old girl), with my 6 and 8 year old boys occasionally joining us. The king size bed mostly works, but I've been thinking of just putting the mattress on the floor now that my 1 year old is all over the place. And I've seriously entertained the idea of wall to wall mattresses in our room. Even a kind size bed can get a bit cramped.
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures you posted.
I live in Japan and this is how they have always slept. I love it. I know you will come up with something gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the movie Away We Go? There's a family in that movie that all sleeps together in this crazy lovely room filled with pillows and soft light. The movie is actually mocking them but man, their sleeping room is gorgeous if you ask me. I'd never leave it! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat blog and im wondering about your bedside lamps. Can you tell me where you got them?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your style.
