Ebay Excitement

I just won this antique sewing machine on Ebay! It dates to 1872! I only want it for the table/cover. I will be detaching the original machine and replacing it with my new Janome, which I started using for the first time yesterday. I actually sewed another dress from the same pattern I used last time, but with different fabric...I'll have to post a couple of pictures as soon as I've finished hemming it and making the buttonholes!

  1. Wow! Score! It must be the fates telling you that sewing is the right path. Can't wait to see the pics of the new dress!

  5. My mother had one of those for a long time in her antiquing-buying-purging lifetime. My little brother (as a teen!) sewed a canvas tent with that sucker. I always found it so soothing to just sit there, and rock the pedal back and forth.

  8. Love it! Mr. U bought me a little 1940's Singer sewing machine a few weeks ago and I'm not brave enough to try it out yet...it's somehow in perfect working order, but knowing me I'll break a needle within the first 5 minutes - I haven't sewn in years!
