I just won this antique sewing machine on Ebay! It dates to 1872! I only want it for the table/cover. I will be detaching the original machine and replacing it with my new Janome, which I started using for the first time yesterday. I actually sewed another dress from the same pattern I used last time, but with different fabric...I'll have to post a couple of pictures as soon as I've finished hemming it and making the buttonholes!

ReplyDeleteMy mother had one of those for a long time in her antiquing-buying-purging lifetime. My little brother (as a teen!) sewed a canvas tent with that sucker. I always found it so soothing to just sit there, and rock the pedal back and forth.

Love it! Mr. U bought me a little 1940's Singer sewing machine a few weeks ago and I'm not brave enough to try it out yet...it's somehow in perfect working order, but knowing me I'll break a needle within the first 5 minutes - I haven't sewn in years!
