Happy Monday, And An Experiment...

34CadaquesLeigh#1

Happy Monday! After reading this post, I'm experimenting with making my photos appear larger in my blog posts.  I've always been annoyed by the fact that the maximum size option on blogger is so puny, so I'm hoping this new technique for posting photos will work.  The photo is of me in September, 2005 when Taro and I were vacationing in Cadaques, Spain.  You can see more of this trip on my Flickr!  XOXO.

UPDATE:  Well, phooey.  Now that I've published the post, I can clearly see that while the photo is bigger, it's now TOO BIG FOR MY LAYOUT AND THE PHOTO IS WEIRDLY CROPPED.  Wah.  I have no idea how to expand the width of the middle column, and I'm totally scared of screwing up my template if I start messing around with the HTML.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Here, for your entertainment, is a corresponding photo (in the normal Blogger-friendly size) of my dear hubby.  How cute is he?

  1. I go to a photo class today. Maybe the folks at Apple can help. Oh by the way, I love the photos of the two of you.

  2. I was just about to write how beautiful that photo of you is ... then I scrolled down & saw the hubby ... now I don't know what to say. You're beautiful; he's ... well ...
    hilarious!
Good luck finding out how to expand photos w/out compromising your template.

  3. I tried swapping out to an "entry on the right/info on the left" format because it seems they crop it short, or it overlaps on the right...
I know you have a snazzy new 3 column jobber, but that might help with width for a little bit.
Otherwise, see if you can't work with a blog designer (they have lots on Etsy that are reasonably priced) and get you a custom site design! ;) You are fabulous enough for one!

  5. That second picture made me laugh out loud! And how funny about the timing of that trip. My husband and I were in Spain in Sept. '05 too. We went back to Andalusia (where we honeymooned in 2000). Magical country - I can't wait to go back!

  9. why don't you try making the 'border' colour in 'fonts and colours' white so it doesn't look like the larger photo is cut. I've just made my blog 3 columns and I agree, the middle column isn't wide enough but I too am scared to mess with the html. let me know how you go.

  10. I just finished a minor site redesign too. Save the template so in case you need to revert you'll have that. Then you'll need to play around with the HTML and the actual width of all your columns. You should be able to go up to a total of at least 900px without a problem. Google formatting width of website for more info. Good luck!

  12. I agree with Marian. Save your template (with widgets expanded) as a text document.

Also, you can just resize the photo by clicking on it and sliding the corner in and out. I'm not sure if you are just unhappy with the results of that or if you are unaware.

If you do need to adjust the html, let me know. I would be happy to talk you through some of the steps if you need some help. I am no wizard with html, but I have learned a few things through formatting my blog.
