Celebrity Baby Blog just posted a fantastic interview with Mayim Bialik, best known as the star of TV's Blossom. Mayim is now the proud parent of two children, ages 3 1/2 and 9 months, and in the interview she opens up about her enthusiasm for breastfeeding, bed sharing, babywearing, elimination communication, and homebirth. Mayim, who now holds a Ph.D in Neuroscience, also talks candidly about her decision not to vaccinate her children, as well as what it is like to balance attachment parenting with getting back into auditioning and working. A must-read! Leave me a comment letting me know what you think about Mayim's parenting choices. I'd love to get your perspective!

I just discovered your blog and love all of your great posts on attachment parenting :) I am looking forward to spending some more time here...
ReplyDeleteWhile I don't agree w/ ALL of her choices, it was a nice read. Glad to see too that not all "child stars" end up to be total idiots. A PhD in neuroscience? Wow! Go Mayim. :-)
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. I feel like I am a million years away from having my own babies - but I am fascinated by the prospects of attatchment parenting.
ReplyDeletebwt - I posted your interview. Thanks again!!!
I wasn't familiar with Mayim but am very encouraged by her choices.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post!
Oh, love this!! I met her many years ago when I was working at the Art Institute in Chicago and she came to visit with her Mom.
ReplyDeleteI must say it is nice to see someone with a bit of exposure talking about homebirth and not vaccinating! Refreshing...
Steph
Interesting. :-)
ReplyDeleteInteresting. When I read interviews like this I realize I have a lot to learn in becoming a parent. I don't think a lot of her methods are for me, but I do appreciate how much she researched before she made those lifestyle choices. I just ordered a bunch of holistic pregnancy books the other day, actually, and am excited to read them.
ReplyDeleteLove this! I just saw the episode of What Not to Wear with Mayim last week and fell madly in love with her. I had no idea she was so AP!
ReplyDeleteInteresting interview. Interesting person. I like that she acknowledges that her choices are not for everyone. We should recognize that everyone's parenting styles and choices are different for many reasons.
