Rainy Afternoon At the Museum

What better thing to do on a dreary, rainy day off than go to the American Museum of Natural History?  Taro really wanted me to experience the special exhibit of butterflies that is currently showing (he and the Kiddo have already been once before), so that is just what we did today!  Here are a few highlights...
It was amazing, beautiful, magical, fun.  The butterflies were flitting all over, even coming to rest on us from time to time!

After enjoying the extent of this tropical paradise on Central Park West, we spent the last few minutes before the museum closed checking out some of the Kiddo's favorite exhibits, including this one of a nursing zebra baby:
Good times.  How did you start this first week of May?

  1. Watching everything turn greener than green with all the rain we've had...making Mother's Day cards...and caramelizng onions.

    The butterflies are beautiful!

  2. Pure fluttery magic. We have a 'Fancy Nancy' where she visits the butterfly conservatory.

  3. My parents live in Key West, and there is a WONDERFUL Butterfly Conservatory there. It's not like anything you've ever seen. The first time I went, I was with my brother and we couldn't stop laughing because it was like walking into a Disney movie. I've taken my oldest son several times and he can't get enough.

I have to say - your pictures are very impressive. It's hard to capture butterflies on film!

  5. Ooo...I love butterflies! Have you noticed there being fewer now than when we were kids? Maybe it's just my imagination.

  7. We have one of these, but not close by, can't wait to venture to ours with the kids. Your post makes me want to go even sooner.

  8. Looks so awesome. Reminds me of the Hummingbird exhibit at Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum in Tucson. *sigh*

  9. That looks like so much fun. I just went to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens over the weekend to see the cherry blossoms - so incredibly beautiful.

Thank you so much for your sweet comment about our news!

  10. I was half expecting Robin Williams dressed as Teddy Roosevelt to come galloping around the corner in that last photo. ;)

  12. Love the butterflies! My city has a great aquarium that also houses a large butterfly conservatory. It is full of lush tropical plants and hundreds of species of butterflies. It is like a fantasy world. Like your conservatory, I think "What a happy place, being amongst thousands of these beautiful creatures!"
