On a total lark last night, we went to see Twilight. The Kiddo had just fallen asleep hard in the Ergo, and T and I were wandering around on a post-dinner stroll, thinking about how nice it would be to see a movie. Alas, we figured we would have to wait a while for anything we wanted to see, and by the time we waited for something to start, the Kiddo would surely be awake and ready to party. But since we were just a block away from our neighborhood cinema, we decided to check the shows and times for the heck of it. Scanning the board, we were un-enthused by our options (Bedtime Stories or The Spirit, anyone? I didn't think so). But then, it hit us -- a showing of Twilight was starting at that moment! This would be an opportunity to check out a pop culture phenomenon -- and if the Kiddo were to wake up, it would be no big loss to leave.Well, despite our less-than hopeful expectations, we loved it! The Kiddo slept soundly through the whole thing, the first time that has happened since he was like, three months old (granted, I had to stand in the back isle and bounce the whole time, but whatevs!).
We enjoyed every cheesy-romantic-fun-creepy-over-the-top moment of the movie. I almost want to see it again, like all the twelve-year-olds are doing!

Isn't it a great little make-you-cringe-but-still-love-it kinda movie?! I stopped myself from seeing it a second time, but did sneak a peak at the trailers for some post-movie kicks. Heh heh...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on seeing a movie with the kiddo in tow! That's always a bit of a feat. :) With three of our own, seeing a movie in an actual theater is still quite a rare treat.
ReplyDeleteps Totally didn't mean for that to rhyme! Sounds kinda Sesame Street-ish. :)
ReplyDeleteL- i'm so glad you two got to enjoy a movie, and you're right, you almost can not- not see "twilight" for all the hype :) agreed. After I went and saw it, I felt like this movie is to the tweens now, what "Titanic" and Leonardo DiCaprio was for me. :)
ReplyDeleteit was a strange feeling lol
I heart spontaneous plans!
We definitely need to see it.
ReplyDeletemeanwhile, I love that you say whatevs! I say it all the time :)
I saw it on opening night with all the thirteen year olds SCREAMING through the whole thing. So surreal.
ReplyDeleteGlad you loved the movie! I know it's cliche, but the book is SOO MUCH BETTER. Especially the first one. I dragged my dear Mike to see the movie, and I loved it in a guilty-pleasure-but-does-this-mean-my-reading-level-is-equal-to-the-4-dozen-tweens-in-here-with-us kind of way. He wasn't so enthused.
ReplyDeleteHooray for a great movie with your two great men!
I am glad you got to see a movie! I have no idea what the Twilight craze is all about, but I actually almost went to see it the other day for the same reasons (except the sleeping baby part...I was just bored, in the area, and nothing else was playing). Maybe I should have!
ReplyDeleteLoved Edward Cullen, I thought the movie was fun, especially the baseball/thunderstorm scene, that was my fave!
ReplyDeleteMy kids are not in this age group yet, so I don't know what all the hype is about and an outing to a grown up movie is few and far between, but I love it that you "popped in" while out on an after dinner stroll...only in NYC! Here that would involve much driving and plan generating...oh how I heart NY!
ReplyDeleteah, resistance may be futile. I have so far resisted reading the books or seeing the movie, but I feel the slightest twinge of a cave in....
ReplyDeleteA. All of these online reviews are persuading me. I think this film is definitely going on my "to-rent" list.
ReplyDeleteB. I can't believe he slept through the whole movie! My daughter did that as an infant, but now she would be entranced by the silver screen...
I really have to see what all the fuss is over these books and now, the movie. I feel so out of the loop!
ReplyDeleteOMG it sounds irresistible.
ReplyDeleteBedtime story was great fun. Go see it.
ReplyDeleteWe told imaginary stories to our clan and still remember the one about the swamp monster that we would tell and they would elaborate.
I TOLD YOU!!!! now you have to read the books, you'll be hooked in no time :-)
