Look at this interesting product that I stumbled upon last week: The Kemby Sidekick is designed to function as a diaper bag and baby carrier in one. Since I often find myself out on long treks around the city wearing the Kiddo, the idea of having a roomy, built-in bag slung around my hips sounds great in theory (only it wouldn't be for diapers -- I'd probably be stuffing my groceries in there!). However, I can't stop thinking that it just looks downright uncomfortable and un-ergonomic. I mean, that bag is HUGE. Wouln't it awkwardly bump against the babywearer's leg when said babywearer is walking? Doesn't the strap that goes around the shoulder look like it's riding way up on the neck? Hmmmmm...Have any of my babywearing readers tried this product, and if so, did you like it? Even if you haven't used it, what do you think?

I think it looks awesome, though perhaps not very comfortable after awhile.
ReplyDeleteThe ergo can do the same thing if you buy the backpack attachment.
I think it looks pretty awkward. Good idea, bad execution.
ReplyDeleteDoes it come with gift certificates to a chiropractor?
ReplyDeleteLOl about the chiroprator gift cards, but I agree--looks awkward.
ReplyDeleteum, awesome.
ReplyDeleteWell, I think it is a good idea, but it definitely needs tweaking.
ReplyDeleteHey! Small world, I "met" amy over there pretty recently through the week in the life project. :~)
Ew, that doesn't look fun at all. But, you never know, it may be just fine.
ReplyDeleteAmy is right about the ergo. I need to use mine more.

mmm.. looks nice.. but awkward 2. It looks like its cutting into her neck 2!
ReplyDeleteI think I agree with your thoughts. It looks a little awkward and not very comfortable, but I haven't tried it so I can't speak from experience. Maybe its one of those products that looks weird, but is really awesome...
ReplyDeleteOn a related note, I think products are often better if they have a singular purpose as opposed to when products are "all-in-one" and have multiple functions.
Cool idea but agreed- probably not comfortable! Looks like the Scootababy, which I own but decided I don't like as much as I thought I did. I prefer my Kozy Carrier with a shoulder bag tucked under one of the straps. Great for NYC bus hopping! btw- small world, I have been reading your blog and it turns out neighbors know you from Our Time. I'll email you!
